How long with the Freedom™ CPAP Battery power my PAP device?
Multiple factors will affect how long the Freedom™ CPAP Battery will power a PAP device, including, but not limited to device type, pressure setting, altitude, humidifier usage, and if an additional connection component is required in conjunction with the battery.

The use of heated humidification and heated tubing will significantly reduce expected run times by up to two thirds in most cases and in some cases could prevent the battery from being able to power the PAP device. To increase average run times the Freedom™ CPAP Battery can be used in a dual battery configuration by pigtailing two batteries together. BiLevel devices will have lower run times as the pressure setting is not constant and changes throughout the night requiring more power to operate the device.

Average run times are based on CPAP devices without the use of heated humidification or heated tubing on a pressure setting of 10 cm/H2O.

How do I connect my PAP device to the Freedom™ CPAP Battery?
See the Specifications tab on the Freedom™ CPAP Battery product page for device-specific instruction sheets.

I have a 12V DC power cord for my PAP device. Can I use that to connect my PAP device to the Freedom™ CPAP Battery via the DC input cord included with the battery kit?
Technically yes; however, it will most likely only power the PAP device for a short time. This occurs because these types of DC power cords typically require a constant 12V power flow in order to work properly and the Freedom™ CPAP Battery functions on a voltage range (9V-12.6V) and cannot provide a constant 12V power flow. Therefore, these DC power cords are not a usually viable option for connecting a PAP device to the CPAP battery.

Do insurance companies pay for the Freedom™ CPAP Battery?
The Freedom™ CPAP Battery is not a Medicare coded item and is not considered medically necessary; therefore, it will most likely not be covered by insurance.

How long does it take to charge the Freedom™ CPAP Battery?
It will take approximately 4 hours (per battery when completely discharged) to charge the Freedom™ CPAP Battery. The Freedom™ CPAP Battery is made from high capacity lithium-ion cells so there is not the typical “memory loss” issues that are associated with other types of batteries. The battery does not need to be fully discharged before recharging.

Can the Freedom™ CPAP Battery be charged in a vehicle?
Yes. The Freedom™ CPAP Battery can be safely and efficiently charged via the cigarette lighter/power socket of a vehicle by using either the Auto Charge DC Cable or 150W Sine Wave Power Inverter.

Can the Freedom™ CPAP Battery be charged via a solar panel?
Yes. Our SunPower 40W Solar Panel was designed specifically for use with the Freedom™ CPAP Battery. The SunPower 40W Solar panel can also be used to charge our older C-100 model CPAP Battery and can be used to charge other small electronic devices that have a DC power cord and operate from 18V or less such as cell phones.

Can the Freedom™ CPAP Battery be used to power other small electronic devices?
Yes. The Freedom™ CPAP Battery can be used to power other small electronic devices such as cell phones and tablets via the 5V USB port, the DC Input Cord included with the CPAP Battery Kit or by using the 150W Sine Wave Power Inverter in conjunction with the battery.

Can I use the Freedom™ CPAP Battery as a backup option in the event of power outage?
Yes. The Freedom™ CPAP Battery can be used as a backup power supply for your PAP device during power outages. You may leave your PAP device connected to the battery when you sleep and in the event AC power is lost the battery will automatically begin powering your PAP device.

When AC power is available it will bypass the lithium-ion cells of the battery thus preventing unnecessary cycling and degredation of the cells (this is a new feature of the Freedom™ CPAP Battery and does not apply to the discontinued C-100 CPAP Battery model).

In the event AC power is lost the battery will recognize this lack of power flow and automatically begin powering your device uninterrupted.

Note: When using the Freedom™ CPAP Battery in the dual battery configuration in the power backup mode you will need to purchase an additional DC power pigtail cord.

Can I take the Freedom™ CPAP Battery on an airplane?
Yes. The Freedom™ CPAP Battery meets current requirements for lithium-ion batteries allowed in carry-on baggage in the United States (100 watt hours or less per battery). Lithium-ion batteries are not allowed in checked baggage. If you are planning to use the CPAP Battery on an aircraft, please contact your airline as they may have specific requirements regarding the use of PAP devices and/or lithium-ion batteries during flight. Click here for more information

I have an older model C-100 CPAP Battery is it compatible with the new Freedom™ CPAP Battery?

Due to circuit board differences the Freedom™ CPAP Battery and C-100 CPAP Battery cannot be used together in the dual battery configuration. Only two Freedom™ CPAP Batteries or two C-100 CPAP Batteries may be pigtailed together.

Has the Freedom™ CPAP Battery been UN tested?
Yes. The Freedom™ CPAP Battery has been UN 38.3 tested and meets all current requirements for shipping via air, land or sea.
